IZACAFE

Opened for nearly 9 years now this place has its menu and look down to a fine art. Located in the industrial and commercial area of Fukuroi directly south of route 1 and the Tomei expressway interchange Izacafe – ’Iza for Izakaya – matches what it proclaims to; cafe by day, Izakaya by night.

Using his previous cafe consulting skills he acquired in Tokyo Oki noticed most of the produce used in Tokyo came from the bread basket of Shizuoka. So nine years ago he came home to Fukuroi established contact with local farmers, used his exquisite design skills and went about establishing a well crafted eatery and menu to suit.

The 950yen pasta lunch set lacks variety; however service is swift and the coffee and sweets satisfy the demanding taste buds.

Inside is a fantastic mix of 60’s and 70’s retro couches, Eames chairs, flower child wallpaper and creative infography to explain the wine list. A long Milan style cafe counter and an array of seating possibilities make it the perfect place for a quick lunch in between visiting factories, weekend catch ups with friends or a fine wine evening for partners. Whatever you do don’t be late for lunch, last orders are at 13:30 and no coffees after that.

Iza- cafe sets the standards for us here at Damonde life, due its communal feeling, longevity and care there should be one in every neighborhood in town and I’d surely employ the skills of Oki to deliver them.
